It's already been officially unveiled, and yet it seems like there is no news or press access to it. There seems to be a real press curtain on it and I haven't heard any developments on it. Meanwhile even Autoblog got its hands on the P1. What gives? Is Ferrari not hitting the marks on it?

It's ugly and not as spectacular as the P1 and 918 Spyder. Although that new Lambo Veneno or whatever seems to have fallen off the radar as well.

Ferrari doesn't need press to sell them. Don't they hand pick who gets the honor of purchasing them?

My guess is that Ferrari, with it's ungodly control of their cars and marketing, has some sort of master plan to unleash all the reviews at once. Or they could be waiting for a lap of the Ring to prove its worthiness.

I wonder about this every day. It seems more and more likely that the car isn't competitive with the P1 and 918 and that's why info and reviews are being delayed.

There is always a chance, even if just a slight one, that it is competitive and will surprise us all. We'll just have to keep waiting to find out.

Ferrari doesn't need press to sell any of its cars. Most Ferrari buyers don't test or hear any info on the cars before putting in orders. Not sure what this has to do with the LaFerrari being a dud.

Is that the same Chris Harris from /Drive?

Because you are claiming it is a dud solely based on the fact that there isn't any press coverage of it. You yourself even said they don't need it so why would they be in any hurry to let one be destroyed by the press corp? They are all sold already anyway right? McLaren needs the press to generate buzz about the car and the brand so they can sell their cars, Ferrari does not.

Exactly. Both the P1 and LF are the only ones sold out anyways. Why does Ferrari care if the media isn't covering it?

Try looking for road tests for the Enzo too.

"Destroyed"? Like the press "destroyed" the P1 & 918?

It's not about selling cars, it's about saying 'hey, we built this thing and it can hang'. Ferrari building this and keeping it from the press is like Ferrari building an F1 car and not racing it... instead just saying, 'its quick, trust us'. I'm not saying Ferrari has to do anything, but it seems bizarre to build this new paradigm hypercar and not allow it to be driven/tested by the press given that the press has had access to all of its other cars as well is the LaFerrari's competitors.

That's just the first page of Google results for "ferrari enzo road test"

I'm sure Ferrari was just as open with the F50, F40, etc. etc.

My point was and continues to be that the lack of press does not equal dud. You must not be familiar with the types of abuse press cars are subject to. As far as destroyed goes, would you buy a supercar that was a press car knowing it's been abused it's entire life? In the greater scheme of things, all Ferrari has to do is say

'its quick, trust us'

I never said the lack of press equals a dud either. I'm asking a question/speculating here.

And the press has a lot more regard for special cars like this than a press fleet GT-R or something. They might get an hour on the road and a few laps on the track. Plus these cars are built for "abuse".

The Veneno was more of a concept car than anything, and was mostly just a hopped up Aventador. They only sold three, so I wouldn't expect any reviews either.
